One Album Every Day: #12 The Fall of Troy - Doppelganger
>mathcore/post-hardcore. amazing shit, highly regarded. it’s like other mathcore albums where you think ‘ok guy i get it you can play the guitar really fast’, all the instrumentation is super talented, and it really never gets boring. vocals are dynamic as fuck and the lead singer switches between clean vocals and harsh shrill screaming so smoothly. lyrics can get pretty emotional at times, but if you want a more emo album check out their next release Manipulator.

One Album Every Day: #11 Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
>hahahaha, ye, THIS album. 1998 lo-fi indie/alt/pysch folk/pysch pop. inspired by the diary of anne frank, this is a hugely thematic and emotional album about life, sex, childhood, all that. the instrumentation is super experimental, with singing saws, bag pipes, floor toms, shortwave radio, fugel horns and many more vastly different instruments adding a real texture to the four chords strum through out the songs that really works. the lyrics and concept really make you feel like you’re part of something big, even when you don’t quite understand them (what the fuck is a holy rattlesnake?). while laughable at times, with moments preaching love for jesus christ and talk of staining mountain tops with semen, the lyrics are still insanely sincere and heartfelt. countless bands, from arcade fire, to brand new to mewithoutYou claim it to be a huge influence, while critics, hipsters and music nerds herald it a classic. you could talk about this album forever, it’s amazing, and it grows on you like crazy.

One Album Every Day: #9 American Football - American Football
>90’s midwest mathrocky emo/core/alt. one of the most emotional records i’ve listened to and one of the best of second-wave emo. insanely heartfelt, amazing instrumentation, lyrics are corny but sincere and relate-able. if you like to drink and feel bad about yourself and cry about exs, missed love etc. this album is perfect.

One Album Every Day: #8 HORSE The Band - The Mechanical Hand
>mathcore/post-hardcore/nintendocore. post hardcore/mathcore with keyboard sections that actually add to the melody/songs. most people just dismiss this as scenecore nintendocore faggotry with stupid pop-culture references, but the instrumentation and vocals on this are really technical and enjoyable, and the lyrics are genuine and metaphors for the frontmans life, upbringing, relationships etc., and just human life in general.
